“The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man...well, hopefully.” |
|
The Scene: Mom, Dad and the kids read the Sunday paper and see an ad stating “Well broke family horse for sale”. Dad calls, sets the appointment and the family piles in the car to go see this “perfect horse”. After a quick test ride in the horse dealer’s barnyard, a deal is made and the family’s new horse is brought home. Excited by the prospect of trail rides in mountains, gallops along the beach and the kids showing in 4-H, the family soon tries out their new horse at home...only to discover he kicks while being saddled, is barn sour to the point of immobility and doesn’t know a lead-switch from a hole in the ground. A call to the seller finds him “surprised” the horse acts that way but rather unwilling to negotiate a refund. Angry, disenchanted and outright scared of riding again, the family ends up selling the horse and soon turns to another hobby, leaving the horse world for good. Such is the nature of “customer service” in today’s horse industry…

About BridleWise |
|
Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of Solitaire. It is a grand passion. |

Sadly, the above scene is repeated daily throughout all levels of the horse world. So-called horsemen and horsewomen eke out a living by taking advantage of the trust given to them by the general public. Rather than developing ongoing relationships with their buyers, many of today’s trainers look to make a quick buck and then wait for their next victim. This cycle leaves new horse people unhappy (if not terrified or injured), the horse itself floating in an endless stream of owners and the “good guys” with horses for sale suffering from a bad image. This is where BridleWise comes in. After years of having my friends, family and sometimes myself taken in by the vagaries of the horse industry, I have made it my goal to make this cycle stop. BridleWise seeks to achieve this goal by bringing good horses together with good people...thus “building equestrian partnerships”. BridleWise is a place where horsemen and women come together to buy and sell what is not a product, but a passion for them. By providing marketing consultation for the “good guys” along with buyer representation and education for horse world neophytes, BridleWise seeks to revolutionize the concept of “customer service” in the horse world. So take some time, explore the site and see what BridleWise can do for you!
